April 7, 2025. South Cotabato. Earlier this afternoon, the Department of Labor and Employment, Region XII (DOLE XII) grants Kasilak and Dole-Stanfilco financial assistance amounting to P1.08 million to support/increase the livelihood opportunities of the 39 displaced workers in South Cotabato for them to become self-sustaining. The financial support is under the DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) for disadvantaged/displaced workers. The support covers the provision of livelihood equipment, tools, jigs, materials and inputs for the livelihood packages identified by the target beneficiaries/displaced workers. These livelihood packages/services include vulcanizing services, (12) welding services (3), barber services (4), Carenderia services (6), carpentry (2), furniture making (1), kakanin making (1), nail services (1), nego cart (1), pastil making (1), printing services (2), pritong manok (2), siomai vending (1), and steel works (2).

In implementing this partnership project, Dole-Stanfilco will also provide necessary counterparts which include logistical and monitoring support to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the project. The support is part of the corporate citizenship and value creation of Dole-Stanfilco where it operates, including providing continued support even after contractual obligations.

Also, this morning, the Dole Community Multipurpose Cooperative (DcoMPC) grants financial counterpart to Kasilak and Dole-Stanfilco amounting to P250,000.00 to co-finance (with Dole-Stanfilco and the 512th Engineer Construction Battalion) the construction of the P776K-Daycare Center in Brgy. Buena Vida, Makilala, Cotabato.

As a background, the previous daycare center of Buena Vida was badly damaged/had collapsed during the 2019 earthquake and was not being repaired until now due to budget constraints. Currently, the daycare learners have used the purok center as their temporary school classroom. The purok center is only temporary and occasionally utilized by the barangay when there are critical events, activities and emergencies, thus, affecting the learning development of the preschoolers. That is why, a conducive learning facility (new daycare center) was proposed to further encourage the preschoolers to attend daily classes. Hence, this partnership project.
