October 17, 2024, Asuncion, Davao del Norte. The Farm-To-Table Project of BPI Foundation implemented by Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. has turned over the 63 (56 does and 7 piglets) livestock to the identified farmer-partners from Brgy. Buclad and Brgy. New Bantayan, Asuncion Davao Del Norte last October 17, 2024. Some of them (does) are already gestating. Biologics/vitamins for goats and feeds (booster and pre-starter feeds) for piglets are already provided/administered before they were released to the beneficiaries to ensure that they are healthy and safe from any diseases and infections or will have higher survival rate. As part of creating shared values to the communities where Dole-Stanfilco operates, Dole Stanfilco also provides counterpart and technical assistance in the implementation of the project.

Since the project site is a flood-prone area, an alternative livelihood-livestock production has been introduced for the farmers to have another source of income. If and when their main source of income-vegetable farming is damaged by natural calamities (flooding and drought) they have another source of income. In the past year, such farmers have also been beneficiaries of the crop/vegetable production support, and they are starting to earn from it.

The turnover was graced by the management of BPI Foundation and Kasilak and the key officers of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO) of Asuncion represented by Mr. John F. Paparon, Mun. Agriculturist and Mr. Joven Bolandu, Municipal Livestock Coordinator on behalf of Mayor Atty. Eufracio P. Dayaday, Jr. Also gracing the activity were Hon. Julius Alagos, Barangay Captain of New Bantayan and Brgy Councils of Brgy. Buclad and Brgy. New Bantayan.

Ms. Joy Reniva, Associate Director of BPI Foundation and her team were very appreciative of the turnover activity and reminded the beneficiaries to take good care of the livestock/goats in order to achieve the ambition of the municipality for the two (2) partner barangays to become the goat capital of Asuncion.
