October 1, 2024. San Isidro, Davao Oriental. Today Dole-Stanfilco, Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. and DepEd Schools Division of Davao Oriental ink a Deed of Donation for the learning materials/packages supporting San Roque Elementary School, San Isidro, Davao Oriental as a new adopted school under the 6-year Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) of Dole-Stanfilco. Along with the Deed of Donation signing, Dole-Stanfilco and Kasilak turn-over relevant learning material packages as an initial support for the 6-year adoption program. Representing the Deed of Donation signing and turnover ceremony are key officers and staff of DepEd Davao Oriental (Dr. Yvette Celmar, Cherry Quibo, Janet Taguinopon, Mary Angeli Yray), Dole-Stanfilco (Charlote Gabato, HR-CSR/EE specialist), and Kasilak (Jobe Tubigon (ED), Novee Wila Rafaela (ASP Program Officer), Elgen Dapiton (Area Coordinator)).
The learning material packages include books (Math, Science, English), laboratory equipment, computer set, and e-media set. One cycle of adoption is 6 years to complete the elementary education from Grades 1 to 6. These learning materials and the 6-year duration of the school adoption are designed to help support the grade school pupils, especially San Roque ES, to be future-ready.
Started in 1999, this ASP initiative is a long standing and long-term commitment of Dole-Stanfilco supporting RA 8525 or the Adopt-A-School of 1998 of the government/DepEd to help improve the learning environment/outcomes of public grade schools in Mindanao where Dole-Stanfilco operates. While Dole-Stanfilco has no direct plantation operation in Davao Oriental, but it sees to it that the communities where its marketing partners operate (Anflo Banana Corp. and Dreirich 168 Agri-Venture) will also benefit from its support as part of creating shared value and shared responsibility. Since 1999, around 150 schools have been adopted by Dole-Stanfilco through Kasilak of which 48 schools are currently active (on-going adoption) and 102 had completed the program.
